Plastic Materials Definitions

General

  • Plastic of all types, #1 through #7 (excluding Styrofoam)
    • Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE)
    • High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
    • Vinyl (V) or Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
    • Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
    • Polypropylene (PP)
    • Miscellaneous plastics, nylon

Containers

  • Detergent and fabric softener containers
  • Soda, water, and flavored beverage bottles
  • Narrow neck containers
    • Health and beauty products, household cleaners
    • Straws
    • Ketchup and syrup bottles
    • Food containers, such as dairy packaging
    • Milk and juice jugs
    • Plastic buckets

Notes:
1. No food-contaminated materials – all containers must be emptied.
2. No motor oil, insecticide, herbicide, or hazardous chemical containers.
3. No expanded foam containers, restroom papers, or papers that contain synthetic materials
